After the smash hit UK Bhangra Awards in 2014 and 2015 they were back this year presented by Culture Unite and Asian World and Sherwani King were one of the official sponsors. The awards not only celebrate music but all aspects of British Asian entertainment with awards going to the best dance group, the best radio presenter and more.
Bhangra began in the Punjab regions of India and Pakistan as a celebration of a good harvest but towards the end of the 20th century UK Punjabi bands began fusing traditional music and contemporary British music which gave birth to what we have today.
This year’s sold-out event was held at The Regency Banqueting Suite, Birmingham on November 19th and was a night of dinner, dance and live performances by some of the greats of the industry. There were over 1000 people made up general public, industry insiders and VIPs. The show had something for everyone with performances from bhangra legends to the emerging stars showcasing the immense talent within the Bhangra industry.
One of the hosts Mick St. Clair wore one of our very own sherwanis. It was a 3 piece antique gold sherwani with a copper kurta. He came in for a consultation and the Sherwani King stylists helped him narrow down his options. After a trying a few men’s sherwanis, he found the perfect one and we think he was one of the best-dressed men of the night!
Along with Mick, the Sherwani King Team and Edwin Ladd of Social Frames were dressed to the nines in our men’s UK sherwanis. They were the best and brightest dressed men drawing attention in their distinctive attire.
