1975
Bobbys Opens on Green Street, London
Bobby Shah opens Bobbys, the UK’s first South Asian bridal boutique. With handcrafted bridal lehengas, regal sherwanis, and vibrant accessories under one roof, it quickly becomes a cultural landmark and a go-to destination for wedding fashion.
1982
Groomswear Finds Its Footing
As demand for menswear grows, Bobbys introduces a groomswear line. Custom-fitted sherwanis, jodhpuris, and bandhgalas gain popularity, setting the foundation for a future brand devoted entirely to the groom.
2001
Design Comes In‑House
Sherwani King launches its first in-house design studio, bringing sketch-to-stitch creations to life under one roof. This marks a major turning point, allowing the brand to experiment, evolve, and push creative boundaries while staying true to its royal heritage.
2014
Relaunched in Solihull
The brand is relaunched with a luxury boutique in Solihull, West Midlands. Sherwani King steps into a new era, blending heritage craftsmanship with contemporary design and elevating the bespoke experience to new heights.
2017
First National Award
Sherwani King wins its first national award for Best Groomswear Provider at the British Asian Wedding Awards, recognising excellence in design, quality, and personalised service.
2018
Excellence Reinforced
The brand wins its second award and gains recognition as one of the UK’s leading names in luxury groomswear, praised for its innovation and detail.
2021
brand opens a second boutique in Ickenham
The brand opens a second boutique in Ickenham, West London, to meet increasing demand from the South. The expansion brings Sherwani King’s signature experience closer to a new generation of grooms.
2023
International Expansion
Sherwani King goes international with the launch of its boutique in Mississauga, Canada. With its signature service and styling now available globally, the legacy continues across borders, dressing grooms who seek heritage, luxury, and distinction.
2025
Milestones & New Horizons
Two major milestones mark this year.
First, Sherwani King expands its Birmingham presence with a second showroom — one exclusively dedicated to sherwanis and the other to suits and tuxedos.
Second, the brand begins its journey into North America with site surveys and inspections underway in New York, California, and Texas — setting the stage for the next chapter of global growth.
